Katy Perry the...Designer?
Apparently Katy Perry wants to design clothes. As you all know, I am NOT a fan of the celebrity turns in to a brand thing-but I think Katy Perry's line could actually by kinda good! "I've always experimented with clothes and have my own style inspired by pin-up girls and Lolita" she told British magazine Fabulous. She has an awesome style to begin with so given the chance to design, im sure she could come up with some cool ideas.

Recession Affects The Best of Us
Kira Plastinina, the 16-year-old fashion designer-and daughter of the extremely wealthy Russian entrepreneur Sergei Plastinin, has about 12 stores here in the states. Bloomberg.com reported that the company plans to close practically all of them. He father spent nearly $80 million to open them all in the 1st place [that also includes her stores 70 in Russia, 10 in Ukraine, and 5 in Kazakhstan]. Poor Kira, well not literally.

Models Can Be Bloggers Too!
I am sure you all know the beautiful Coco Rosha, well turns out she has a blog! Its called Oh So Coco and her posts are pretty interesting. One impreticular where she explains "keeping [her] new red hair a secret" because Vogue had the exclusive on it and she couldn't be seen anywhere else until the issue came out. I think her blog will be a hit, it is Coco Rosha after all.

Cory Kennedy
So, I am not feeling to well, and all I did last night was watch NylonTv.
I guess I'm late on this one, but I didn't really know who Cory Kennedy was. All i knew was what I could piece together and the fact that she was all over Nylon.
I decided to do some reach search and basically here is the timeline to her fame:
June 2005: Fifteen-year-old Cory Kennedy, wearing a coveted yellow mini-dress, goes to see the Blood Brothers at the El Rey Theatre. Gets noticed by photographer Mark Hunter, the Cobra Snake
January 2006: Hunter posts photo of Cory smooching with one of the Kings of Leon. Cory becomes Hunter’s girlfriend. More parties, more pictures. Mom insists Cory and Hunter spend more time at her house, where she can keep an eye on them.
February 2006: Cory turns 16; fans of thecobrasnake.com, reacting to photos of Cory on the website, wonder who she is. A fashion blogger calls her a “gem” and marvels, “I can’t take my eyes off of her.” A reader responds by directing the blogger to an all-Cory fan site developed by someone in the Netherlands.
March 2006: Hunter notices that his Web traffic jumps every time Cory’s picture is posted. They decide to make her a fashion star.
April 2006: Cory visits New York with her parents. Hunter meets her there and they visit the editor of Nylon magazine, who asks her to come back to have her picture taken. Her parents are happy she’s happy, but have no idea what Nylon magazine is.
June 2006: Nylon publishes a full page of Cory photos. At Urban Outfitters in Westwood, people gape at her as if she’s a star. Internet chatter intensifies.
July 2006: The New York Times mentions Cory in an article on interns. Her mother wonders whether Cory as Internet celebrity is bigger than she’d realized.
August 2006: Fans hack Cory’s MySpace page. She starts a new one and launches a blog. By month’s end, typical items include an account of a P. Diddy party.
September 2006: A video of Cory listening to a Good Charlotte song becomes a cult favorite on YouTube. She and Hunter split, and she starts staying out late with celebrities. Her parents become alarmed.
[timeline via LA times]
Long story short, I am kinda jealous yet confused. I am jealous that she is considered a modern "fashion icon" at such a young age. Don't get me wrong she seems like a cool girl, but who knows, fame is a strange thing I guess....

The Notrious Bettie Page
Bettie Page "was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society"- (Playboy founder Hugh Hefner) passed away yesterday. The legendary Pin-Up model collapsed from a heart attack six days ago in LA and never woke. Ms. Page had a cult-like following and popularity, with her trade make bangs, spiked heels and infamous curves Bettie Page was the most famous pin-up girl from the post WWII ear. She will never be forgotten...

Colenimo
So, I am kinda obsessed...Colenimo is a London label by Aya Nakagawa, Tokyo Mode Fashion University grad. Aya's collection called "Teddy Girls" is pretty much the epitome of my style.
Inspired by 1950's London the collection has a mix of masculine silhouette's but with a feminie twist.
I want every piece in this collection, vintage with a modern twist-I mean come on it's perfection!

Karl Lagerfed pre-fall
Karl Lagerfeld debuted the house's Métiers d'Art pre-fall collection over a two-day round of cocktails, dinners, and partying. Prior to the runway show was a 10-minute silent film about Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel early years. The Russian-themed satellite collection included tweed,(of course) sailor stripes, cashmere knits, and jewels. The looks were brought up-to-date with sky-high beehive hair styles ( a la Amy Winehouse) and coats and coats of eyeliner. Basically, it was a spectacularly glamours and amazingly beautiful event.
here are some still frames from the silent film:

Zac Posen
Looks like designers are feeling the economy crunch too, huh? The Daily was the first to hear that Zac Posen has put a team together to launch several lower-priced lines. Although he didn't drop any specific detail, he was giving some major hints "We've been in the process of building our lower priced collections," he responded. "So we've been busy assembling our team for that starting with our fragrance."

Flapper Cap
I had to do a magazine project on the 1920's for english class, I use the term had loosely because I was more than happy to do it! Anyway, as I was reaching background information and such, I couldn't help but notice all the amazing hats. They are brimless and don't cover your whole head. They are so amazing I NEED one. I found a few online that I like, but I will most likely just end up making some myself.
