The Girl Project Book

A few years ago, I was one of 5,000 girls who participated in The Girl Project. It warms my heart to say that one of my photos was chosen to be featured in The Girl Project Book, set to release in August 2011.  I received a disposable camera in the mail, and was asked to take photos of the world around me. The Girl Project, created in 2007 by Kate Engelbrecht, explores the world of female adolescence through the eyes of teenage girls. "Humans have long been fascinated by female adolescence. In today's world it not only piques our curiosity - it feeds our insatiable need for drama. [. . .] We fail to understand the complexity and the truth behind the very group we obsess on," Engelbrecht said. The Girl Project reintroduces the life of real American teenage girls through images we created ourselves. Helen Rödel

Editorial: Fotogaleria Blanco y Negro
Helen Rodel is one of the most innovative designers I know. She sent me a lovely email introducing me to her line, and I am so glad she did! Helen's unique technique deserves to be recognized. To execute garments, as well as she does, that were completely hand weaved takes passion, patients, and craftsmanship. Here is your chance to get an up close and personal view of her creative process. Watch the video below, and witness the development of her most recent collection Estudos MMXI. These featured photos are from her previous collections. Click here to view more.
