Colenimo

What is there to even say about Aya Nakagawa, the designer of Colenimo? The only thing I can think of is, HOW DO YOU DO IT?! She always has the most beautiful and innovative collections every season! Seriously Aya, how do you do it? Her S/S '10 collection is "inspired by the beauty and simplicity of English seaside railway posters from the 1930's and 40's". I mean I could rave on and on about how classic this collection is and how there is a piece for every occasion that is sure to turn heads but that would take forever. I am just going to let this collection speak for it's self.

Orla Kiely

It's pretty much a given that I love every vintage inspired collection. So, it's no surprise that I heard a string quartette playing in the background while looking at Orla Kiely's A/W lookbook. The collection consists of mostly neutral, earthy tones, and the perfect winter fabrics that are cute yet protect you from that winter chill. My favorite look is, the oversized white collared printed dress, paired with those amazing printed tights. Oh! and how about the light brown romper with the polka-dotted bow-tie. Orla Kiely's autumn/winter collection is my inspiration for the season.

Grand Opening!

A new boutique called, Code C, located in Sunset Plaza, with its grand opening party on the 23rd of October. CODE C is a distinctive shop whose goal is to showcase unique designers as well as a rotating roster of local artists. “Our concept for the store is to create a space where each designer’s collection can be displayed in it’s entirety so the brands are able to come to life,” says Marzia, “it’s, in essence, a designer’s showroom open to the public.”

CODE C's line-up of collections includes Marchesa, A.L.C. by Andrea Lieberman, Cynthia Vincent, Louver by Louis Verdad, David Galan, Mike & Chris, ReCollection, Gabriela Artigas, Koi Suwannagate, Valerj Pobega, Diesel, and Nandini. definitely a destination store that will attract a discerning clientele. Artist Gal Harpaz is to exhibit for the grand opening.

Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show

WOW! where do I begin? the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show was utterly amazing! To quote my mom "I don't know what I liked better... the people or the clothes?!" The whole event was just one AHHH moment with lights radiating in the background hah, seriously though. I wish I could have taken more pictures but they weren't to keen on that, and for good reason. Many designs go there to pull for their collections so I was not about to argue. The venue was HUGE so we tried to go through all the booths (for lack of a better term) as organized as possible there were so many amazing pieces to look at! I bought...This red veltvet cropped jacket, that kinda reminds me of a circus ringleader uniform from Metropolis Vintage This white and black vertically striped, frilled blouse from What Goes Around Comes Around Lastly, this "salior-like" red and black dress from Boutique of Joy WHAT A FUN DAY! store locations: Metropolis Vintage: 32 Fuller Road Albany, NY 12205 What Goes Around Comes Around: 351 West Broadway (btwn Broome and Grand) New York, NY 10013 Joe Sundlie's Vintedge: 40 West 25th Street, New York, NY 10010 Boutique of Joy: 21 S. The Modern Heirloom

Dalla Nonna Jewelry, which translates from Italian to “From the Grandmother” is the cutest jewelry line ever! Dalla Nonna Jewelry, puts a fresh spin on the classic custom tradition of vintage jewelry as heirlooms. Lawyers by day and jewelry designers by night, Rebecca Richards and Jessica Bohrer were inspired by the vintage tiepins of their grandmothers to create the signature Calendar Necklace. This line took the concept of sentimental dates in peoples’ lives and turned them into something physical to pass along to loved ones. It is the perfect gift for a mom, daughter, sister or girlfriend. Each piece is executed in 14k gold (rose, yellow and white) or sterling silver and accented with a sapphire in a color chosen by the wearer to commemorate a date of her choosing. Whether it's your anniversary, birthday or the new fashion line you just launched, the Calendar necklace and bracelet are the perfect way to cherish those dates that are most special to your heart. The Dalla Nonna jewelry line makes a wonderful and meaningful present. Visit the website here :) ... www.dallanonnajewelry.com

The 80's are BACK

It started with the acid wash jeans, and hey, we all know fashion is about recycling trends from the past-so who am I to argue. Take for example Marc Jacobs fall 09 RTW collection which hits just about every 80's cliche, like, the obvious shoulder padded prom-dress and high waisted belted secretary look. Each of the models had hair and makeup that was clearly reminiscent of the 1980's, from crimps and teased mohawks to intense makeup. How about TopShop's Unique's 2009 show full of jumpsuits, denim pieces, shoulder padded jackets, high waisted pants, bandanas on their heads, and over sized sweaters. So there you have it, put your straighting irons away and sew back in those shoulder pads cause the rumors are true, the 80's are BACK. Can I be the first to say that, I spy a pattern here...last season was the 90's, this season 80's, who knows maybe someone pressed rewind on the fashion tapes-you might have to dust off those bell-bottom's come spring...photocred: top-Ben Perdue, fashion writer; Liane Somers, video director (image refinery29) middle-Marc Jacobs Fall 09 RTW (image style.com), bottom-TopShop Unique's Show (image gossipcenter)
