Team Balenciaga

Many, including myself lately have been taking inspiration from everyday occupations (ie the military jacket). It seems that Balenciaga has a new spin on things. Women have been wearing Varsity jackets ever since well, the Grease days. But it usually meant they were going steady with their quarterback boyfriend.

Balenciaga decided to take that idea, and make it a little more fashion forward. By using the "All-American" style jacket, and altering it at the "shoulder seams above the arms and tightened the chest and arms."

The jacket above is intended for a guy...but who cares I would totally wear it, wouldnt you?

Sewing Class

hey guys! so today I have my first sewing class! I'm excited! hah 20 bucks says that everyone in the class with be in their mid to late 60's. It's gonna be cool though to picture an outfit in my head that I don't own already and be able to make it myself. My latest inspiration actually came during history class. We watched Gone With the Wind and I absolutely loved it. Naturally, while everyone else in class was dozing off I couldn't take my eyes off all the amazing dresses in that movie. The detail, and embroidery, and the ruffles, and the craftsmanship I was in awe. Even the men's outfits were totally wearable, i mean they were all wearing military jackets! There was not a wide variety of pictures to choose from on the net but here are a few...

We can always rely on Fashionista.com for getting the inside scope on fashion must know stories. They just reported that TopShop is scouting out a few new, and unknown American designers to "head up a small satellite 'studio' for Topshop in New York." After a two week initiation in London during London Fashion Week, they will be heading back to the states to get started on this exciting project.

I Like Ponies!

As you know Iekeleine Stange is my favorite model. I've seen plenty of picture OF her but now you can see picture BY her! During Berlin fashion week Iekeleine will be putting on a solo photography exhibit called "I Like Ponies!". The whole exhibit will be composed of Polaroids giving us a glimpse in to her beautiful yet kooky world. "I will be showing some of my most personal work through the medium of the instant photograph providing an insight into my everyday, a compact referent of my world. It will offer a taste of the absurd, and the surreal within the world in which I live and work"

Badgley Mischka Lowers Prices

In the hopes of selling more pieces, Badgley Mischka plans to lower prices for their fall 2009 collection. They aren't sure how much and are still working out the details. "We realize the world is different … People who are pretending that nothing’s going on are not thinking properly. We have to react and give the consumer great value for great fashion.” Iconix Brand Group Inc told The Wall Street Journal.
